The Trinityhouse Glenvista High School, part of this division, is looking for a dedicated and reliable Driver to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students as they travel to and from school, as well as supporting various operational needs within the school.

Key Responsibilities

As a Driver at Trinityhouse Glenvista High, your role will encompass more than just driving. You will be a trusted member of our team, ensuring the smooth operation of daily transportation needs, and contributing to the overall positive experience of our students and staff.

  • Student Transportation: Safely transport students to and from school, ensuring their punctual arrival for classes and safe return home. You will also be responsible for driving students to school events, sports fixtures, and other extracurricular activities as needed.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Beyond driving, you will take ownership of the vehicle(s) assigned to you. This includes regular cleaning, conducting daily pre-trip inspections, and performing basic maintenance tasks. You will be expected to maintain a daily checklist, ensuring that the vehicle is always in optimal condition and ready for use.
  • Fuel Management: Ensure that the school bus or assigned vehicle is adequately fueled at all times. Part of your responsibilities will include monitoring fuel levels and refueling the vehicle when necessary to avoid any interruptions in service.
  • General Assistance: At times, you may be called upon to assist with other duties within the school. This could include helping with deliveries, running errands, or performing miscellaneous tasks as required by the school administration. Your willingness to lend a hand in various capacities will be greatly valued.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere strictly to all road safety regulations and school policies. You will be responsible for the safety of all passengers, ensuring that seat belts are used where applicable, and that the vehicle is operated in a manner that prioritizes the well-being of students and staff.

What We’re Looking For

  • Excellent Eyesight: Your ability to see clearly, both during the day and at night, is crucial for the safe operation of the school bus or vehicle. You should have sharp, unimpaired vision to anticipate and react to any potential hazards on the road.
  • Punctuality: Time management is key. You must consistently adhere to strict schedules to ensure students arrive on time for classes and other activities. Punctuality is not just a requirement but a cornerstone of your role.
  • Energetic and Helpful: We value individuals who bring energy to their work and are always willing to go the extra mile to assist students and staff. Your positive attitude will contribute to a supportive and welcoming environment at our school.
  • Responsibility and Reliability: Trustworthiness is paramount. You will be entrusted with the safety of our students and the care of school property. We need someone who can be counted on to handle this responsibility with the utmost seriousness.
  • Communication Skills: As a driver, you will interact with students and staff regularly. Clear and respectful communication is essential to ensure smooth operations and foster positive relationships within the school community.
  • Team Player: While you will often work independently, being able to collaborate and support your colleagues is important. A team-oriented mindset will help you thrive in our school environment.
  • Enthusiastic and Trustworthy: A passion for your work, combined with a strong sense of integrity, will set you apart. We are looking for someone who genuinely cares about the role they play in the lives of our students and the success of our school.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Educational Background: A minimum of Grade 12 (Matric) is required. Your ability to read, write, and comprehend English fluently is essential for communication and record-keeping purposes.
  • Driver’s Licence: You must hold a valid Code EB driver’s licence along with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP). These credentials are non-negotiable as they are necessary for the legal operation of school transportation vehicles.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of relevant driving experience in a similar role or environment is required. Experience within an educational setting, particularly working with children, will be highly advantageous.
