Key Responsibilities
As a Driver, your day-to-day duties will include:
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before departure and upon return, reporting any issues immediately.
- Complete inspection lists and submit them to the Dispatch Supervisor every Monday for approval.
- Ensure parcels are checked and loaded correctly with supervision, following the New Dispatch Loading procedure.
- Deliver parcels to customers according to your designated route schedule and trip sheets.
- Adhere strictly to the Proof of Delivery (POD) procedure to guarantee accurate documentation of deliveries.
- Follow the RFC procedure and ensure all documents and collection slips assigned to your trip sheet are delivered and returned appropriately.
- Take responsibility for any outstanding trip sheets, as errors could result in claims.
- Communicate any challenges encountered during deliveries to the Dispatch Supervisor.
- Avoid stock transfers between customer locations.
This role requires not just driving but also careful attention to detail, accountability, and excellent customer service skills.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 certificate
- At least 3 years of delivery experience
- A valid driver’s license with PDP (Professional Driving Permit) – essential
- Strong time management skills to meet delivery deadlines
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with supervisors and customers
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy
- Demonstrated honesty and integrity in all work-related activities
- Sober habits and a clear focus on safety
