Responsibilities
The General Worker – Tyre Fitter will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
Tyre Fitting and Removal
- Mount and remove tyres using approved machinery and tools.
- Clean and paint rims prior to tyre fitting where required.
- Fit wheels correctly onto motor vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Match dual wheels accurately.
- Inflate tyres to the correct pressure based on manufacturer guidelines.
- Perform pressure and torque checks to ensure safe operation.
- Torque wheel nuts to manufacturer specifications.
- Brand tyres as required.
- Identify and report defects such as damaged studs, washers, or wheel nuts to the site supervisor.
- Apply and maintain all relevant safety standards during tyre operations.
Customer Service
- Receive customers in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner.
- Communicate any tyre-related findings or recommendations to the site supervisor, who will then assist customers accordingly.
Housekeeping and Asset Management
- Handle tools, machines, and equipment with care and responsibility.
- Ensure the work area, yard, and workshop are clean, orderly, and safe at all times.
- Clean and store tools and machinery correctly after use.
- Maintain neat and presentable dressing rooms.
- Protect company property and prevent damage or misuse of assets.
Health and Safety
- Adhere strictly to workplace health and safety standards.
- Ensure all personal protective equipment (PPE) provided by the company is used correctly and kept in good, clean condition.
- Conduct work in a manner that does not endanger colleagues, customers, or the public.
Documentation and Administration
- Accurately complete tyre change slips for all wheel changes and submit them on time.
- Prepare survey reports correctly and submit them within required timeframes.
- Clock in and out accurately according to shift requirements by signing the time register.
General Duties
- Carry out all reasonable instructions, whether verbal or written, that fall within the scope of the role.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of automobile lifting equipment.
- Maintain basic knowledge of wheel alignment principles.
- Maintain basic knowledge of vehicle suspension components.
Required Qualifications
